From the paper Linked Data in a Scientific Collaboration Framework I understand that the main feature of scf is its use of RDF.
As you know, RDF is a hot topic in Drupal and there are several RDF modules in Drupal (in particular http://drupal.org/project/rdf, http://drupal.org/project/sparql, http://drupal.org/project/relations, http://drupal.org/project/rdfcck). There is a community around these at http://groups.drupal.org/semantic-web and some Drupal handbook pages at http://drupal.org/handbook/modules/rdf.
Would the RDF modules developed for scf be interesting to the Drupal community? Or are they to specialised?
SCF, RDF, and Drupal
The goal of the Science Collaboration Framework in Drupal, or "SCF Drupal," is to have all of our custom need modules ultimately hosted with all other broadly community supported modules on Drupal.org (becoming more contrib that SCF draws on) but this will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
We certainly try to use existing solutions first. For instance, the contributed Sparql module and RDF module that you mention is already in use by SCF.
I look forward to points of collaboration with SCF and the TRANSIT project!
